HISTORICAL CONTEXT
National Route No. 1 connects Port-au-Prince to the North and Cap-Haitien. National Route No.
2 connects the capital to the South. Both routes have faced periodic gang blockages since 2021
when territorial control expanded beyond Port-au-Prince.
