HISTORICAL CONTEXT
Haiti's informal economy and remittance-dependent household sector are acutely sensitive to
gourde fluctuation. The HTG/USD rate has depreciated from approximately 110 per dollar in
2021 to ranges exceeding 130 in recent periods, compressing purchasing power and elevating
food insecurity among the urban poor.
