HISTORICAL CONTEXT
The Transitional Presidential Council was installed in April 2024 following the
resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry with an 18-month mandate expiring
February 7 2026. The council was intended to oversee security restoration and
prepare conditions for elections but has been marked by internal divisions corruption
allegations and five members currently under US visa restrictions.
