HISTORICAL CONTEXT
Haiti's TPS designation was first granted in 2010 following the earthquake and has
been continuously renewed through multiple administrations until the Trump
administration's termination notice in January 2026. The program currently covers
approximately 350,000 Haitians who remitted an estimated 1.4 billion dollars to Haiti in
2024 according to World Bank data.
